Tires
TPMS RESET BY MAKE
Tire pressure monitoring is on every US car from 2008 on (many 2006–2007 too). After a rotation or pressure adjustment, use the steps for your make. Each vehicle page also shows its own TPMS steps.
GM
Chevrolet · GMC · Buick · Cadillac · Relearn with key fob / horn chirp (or TPMS tool on newer models)
- 1
Set all tires to the pressure on the door-jamb sticker.
- 2
Turn the ignition on (engine off). Older models: press lock + unlock on the key fob together until the horn chirps twice. Newer models: in the cluster go to Tire Pressure and hold the select button until the horn chirps.
- 3
Starting at the left front, activate each sensor with a TPMS tool (or let air out until the horn chirps).
- 4
Go left front → right front → right rear → left rear. A chirp confirms each wheel; after the last one, the horn chirps twice and the relearn is done.
FORD
Ford · Lincoln · Sensor relearn with TPMS tool
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Ignition off. Turn the key from OFF to RUN three times, ending in RUN. Press and release the brake, then cycle OFF to RUN three more times. The horn sounds once (training mode).
- 3
Hold a TPMS tool against the left front tire sidewall at the valve stem and activate it until the horn chirps.
- 4
Repeat for right front, right rear and left rear. A double chirp after the last wheel means it's done.
TOYOTA
Toyota · Lexus · Scion · TPMS SET button or dash menu
- 1
Set all tires (cold) to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Turn ignition on. Older models: hold the TPMS SET button (under the dash or glovebox) until the light blinks slowly three times. Newer models: Settings → Vehicle → TPMS → Set Pressure.
- 3
Wait a few minutes with the ignition on, or drive above 25 mph for about 10 minutes, until the light goes out.
HONDA
Honda · Acura · TPMS calibration (dash menu or TPMS button)
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Ignition on. Use the steering-wheel menu: Vehicle Settings → TPMS Calibration → Calibrate (or hold the TPMS button on the lower dash until the light blinks twice).
- 3
Drive 20–30 minutes at 30–65 mph to finish calibration.
NISSAN
Nissan · Infiniti · Auto relearn / hazard-flash inflation method
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Many models: drive above 16 mph for about 10 minutes and the system relearns on its own.
- 3
Models with Easy Fill: with ignition on and hazards flashing, add air until the horn beeps at the correct pressure.
- 4
After a sensor swap, a TPMS tool may be needed to register new sensor IDs.
HYUNDAI / KIA
Hyundai · Kia · Genesis · Automatic relearn by driving
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Drive above 15 mph for about 10–20 minutes. The system relearns sensor positions automatically.
- 3
If the light stays on or flashes then stays solid, a sensor is faulty or new sensors need registering with a TPMS tool.
STELLANTIS
Ram · Jeep · Dodge · Chrysler · Fiat · Automatic relearn by driving
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure (check the placard — Ram and Jeep differ front/rear).
- 2
Drive above 15 mph for about 20 minutes. The light goes out when the system sees correct pressures.
- 3
A flashing light for ~75 seconds then solid means a sensor fault.
MAZDA
Mazda · TPMS SET switch or menu (indirect) / auto relearn
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Ignition on. Hold the TPMS SET switch (lower left dash) until the warning light blinks twice, or use Settings → Vehicle → Tire Pressure Monitor → Initialize.
- 3
Drive normally — calibration finishes after roughly 30 minutes of driving.
SUBARU
Subaru · Automatic relearn by driving
- 1
Set all tires (cold) to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Drive above 20 mph for about 10–20 minutes; the light turns off once sensors are read.
- 3
New sensors must be registered with a TPMS tool.
VW / AUDI
Volkswagen · Audi · Indirect system — SET in menu or button
- 1
Set all tires to the pressure on the fuel-door placard.
- 2
Ignition on. Use the infotainment: Vehicle → Settings → Tires → SET (older models: hold the tire-pressure button in the center console until it chimes).
- 3
Drive normally; the system relearns over the next several miles.
BMW / MINI
BMW · Mini · Reset in iDrive / RDC menu
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Start the engine (don't drive). In iDrive: Vehicle Status → Tire Pressure Monitor → Perform Reset. Older models: hold the reset button or use the cluster stalk menu.
- 3
Drive off; the reset completes after a few minutes of driving.
MERCEDES-BENZ
Mercedes-Benz · Restart in instrument cluster menu
- 1
Set all tires to the fuel-door placard pressure.
- 2
Ignition on. Use the steering-wheel buttons: Service → Tire Pressure → Restart, then confirm with OK.
- 3
Drive a few minutes above 15 mph to complete.
VOLVO
Volvo · Calibrate in car settings
- 1
Set all tires to the fuel-door placard pressure.
- 2
Engine running. In the center display: Settings → My Car → Tire Pressure → Calibrate (older models: menu on the turn-signal stalk).
- 3
Drive normally to finish calibration.
MITSUBISHI
Mitsubishi · Automatic relearn by driving
- 1
Set all tires to the door-jamb pressure.
- 2
Drive above 20 mph for about 10 minutes; the light turns off once sensors report correct pressure.
- 3
New sensor IDs need registering with a TPMS tool.
PORSCHE
Porsche · Select tire setting in cluster menu
- 1
Set all tires to the placard pressure.
- 2
In the instrument cluster: Tire Pressure → choose the tire set / load setting, then confirm.
- 3
Drive a few minutes; the system learns the new values.
General guide — steps vary by model and year. Verify in the owner's manual; some vehicles need a TPMS scan tool after sensor replacement.
